Sometimes opportunity knocks and the opportunity is too good to pass up; consider this scenario:

The leaves are glorious, but not forever. You know that, and yet you haven’t had the chance to get out and enjoy the autumn color.

Perhaps Port Washington Inn’s last minute availability of Helen’s Room for this weekend is opportunity knocking at your door…..take a look at our website and book online OR give us a call (262-284-5583).

Friday and Saturday and Sunday are available, so book one, two, or three nights; save 15% on two nights or 25% on three nights!

Noelle’s Room is available for a single Friday night stay (call to reserve this one).

p.s. did we mention that HR has an electric fireplace stove?

2015 PGA Tournament Lodging at Port Washington Inn: 6th night FREE! August 30, 2014

August 2015 will be an exciting time as the PGA Tournament revisits Whistling Straits just 30 minutes north of Port Washington! That 30 minutes can be considered a ‘buffer zone’ between the congestion of an event of this magnitude and the laid back access to Lake Michigan at Port Washington.

Port Washington Inn is a bed and breakfast in the truest sense: an historic home that now accommodates and pleases guests (check our TripAdvisor reviews)! We have blocked out eight nights (August 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17) in order to allow guests to choose the 5 nights they deem essential plus a 6TH FREE NIGHT…..yes, that is five paid nights plus a 6th night FREE!

Because the nature of this event makes it a high demand event in our area, the policies applicable to booking these dates differ from our routine policies.

POLICIES FOR THE 2015 PGA DATES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1) Each guestroom will accommodate a maximum of 2 people (and the reservation assumes the same two people over the duration of the reservation)

2) A 50% NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT is required at the time of booking

3) Balance of the reservation total is due April 30th, 2015. Any existing reservation cancelled by this date will receive a credit certificate in the amount of the deposit; the credit certificate is good for one year from the date of issue. Cancellations after April 30, 2015 will not qualify for credit certificates.

The five guestrooms at Port Washington Inn include en suite bathrooms and rates are as follows:

Top of the World Suite and Grace’s Suite: $249/night X 5 nights = $1245.00 + tax
(when taking advantage of the 6th free night these suites = $207.50/night)

Dorothy’s Room: $199/night X 5 = $995 + tax
(when taking advantage of the 6th free night, this room = $165.83/night)

Helen’s Room and Noelle’s Room: $189/night X 5 = $945 + tax
(when taking advantage of the 6th free night = $157.50/night)

All stays include WIFI throughout the inn, a full breakfast in our formal dining room plus early morning coffee service (only the best coffee!!), access to a beverage center throughout your stay, common areas both inside and outside the inn, and off-street parking (no parking hassles). The inn is 3-5 blocks from everything downtown including restaurants, shops, the marina, parks, the 1860 Light Station/Museum, the Interurban bike trail throughout Ozaukee County, and parks along Lake Michigan’s shores.

Lake Michigan has the effect of lengthening the season of autumn along its shorelines; a hike through Lions Den Gorge or Harrington Beach State Park will nourish your senses with their natural beauty.

These photos were taken October 20, 2012 at Lions Den Gorge where leaves had fallen to create a carpet of autumn colors underfoot while random wildflowers still bloomed and some golden leaves held fast to a tree along the beach. Along the trail vibrant orange leaves proclaimed the season!

Everything’s coming up roses at Port Washington Inn! July 7, 2014

IMG_1049roses

We recall our earliest years of innkeeping when we coveted the landscapes with profusions of roses spilling over fences or trellises. If felt like a dream come true when we could admire our own roses spilling over the pergola that Dave and Aaron built. In spite of our ignorance of roses in general, they have proven to be dependable in our landscape. Our white rugosa rose blooms first, followed closely by the roses you see in the photo above (would that we could recall what rose we planted!).

The roses (and each shrub and perennial that survived this past winter) are treasured for their durability as well as their beauty.

Celebrating favorite family-owned businesses within 30 minutes of Port Washington Inn May 23, 2014

We love spreading the word about family-owned businesses we patronize and appreciate. This week we’ve had the pleasure of visiting three of our favorites: Anodyne Coffee and Pastiche Bistro (in Bayview) and Paradise Garden Nursery on Highway 33 a few miles east of West Bend.

All of the coffee served at Port Washington Inn comes from Anodyne and is roasted for us once we call in our order. We personally feel that a day that begins without Anodyne coffee is off to a bad start!

Likely it’s a good thing that Pastiche isn’t right around the corner from us because we would have a difficult time staying away; although why even try to stay away when everything about it is so perfect (the wine selection, the French onion soup which we simply cannot pass up, the delectable entrees and the desserts…….all served in an environment warmed by gracious service and attention to all the details.

A trip to Paradise Garden Nursery is an experience I look forward to each spring. Once there, I feel as though I’m in another world made beautiful by the TLC of the Ratzburg family. The parents started the nursery and now their sons have joined and grown the business! Their plants are beautifully cared for and always do well; for those of us who depend upon guidance when deciding what to plant where, this is the place to go!

As Dave reminds me, we also have favorite family-owned businesses here in Port Washington but I’ll save those for another blog.

Celebrate July at Port Washington Inn July 2, 2013

PWI Rose Extravaganza of Color

PWI Rose Extravaganza of Color

Our roses seem to be competing with the upcoming 4th of July fireworks as their brilliant blossoms create an extravaganza of color! Port Washington Inn’s location four blocks uphill from Lake Michigan allows us to keep an eye on the lake, and yesterday the lake was a gorgeous blue, the perfect backdrop to the roses.

The lake views get better from the balcony of Grace’s Suite (on second floor) and the sitting room of Top of the World Suite (on third floor). But viewing the fireworks is great from Dorothy’s Room or the front porch as well.

The iris put on a great show this year and the daylilies are just beginning to open. Hydrangeas, weigela, and a mystery shrub in our yard have been adding their color and fragrance. A clematis is playing peek-a-boo amidst the roses.

Single night stays are available through July 4th, but we offer 15% discount on a two night stay and 25% discount on three or more nights! Book online or call 262-284-5583.

2013 Harley Davidson 110th Reunion Lodging June 14, 2013

Located 30 minutes north of Milwaukee, Port Washington shares Lake Michigan’s shoreline and is known for its picturesque setting and its charter fishing industry.  The lakefront is the focal point of the community affording visitors and residents a well-kept marina, 4 parks overlooking the waterfront, one of only two art deco lighthouses in the U.S., a restored 1860 Light Station open for touring, kayak and canoe launch from South Beach, and groomed beach below Upper Lake Park to the north of the marina.   The historic downtown parallels the lakeshore on Franklin Street and reaches west on Grand Avenue.  This ‘little city of seven hills’ has stairs up and down the hills that create shortcuts from one destination to another.  It is a perfectly walkable location that guests of the Port Washington Inn appreciate!

August 30th from 3:00-11:00 Port Washington’s Rock the Harbor Festival celebrates visitors to the 2013 Harley Davidson 110th Reunion.   Traditionally, Port Washington hosts as many of the Harley Davidson reunions’ visitors as find rooms here.

Port Washington Inn blocked out the dates of August 28th through September 1st to allow guests flexibility in determining which four nights work best for them; we offer a FREE fifth night.

Because these dates are high demand dates, our policies are as follows:

2) Balance due 30 days in advance of your arrival; also nonrefundable
