Visiting Port Washington Inn February 7, 2017
When we travel, we so appreciate discovering food that makes us happy; as innkeepers, our goal is to offer our guests food that makes them happy. Over our years as innkeepers (21 years and counting), an increasing number of guests have advised us that they are following a somewhat restricted diet. We know a little more about that now than we did last year at this time.
Last spring we undertook the challenge of creating quality gluten-free baked items for our guests; most recently we have undertaken the challenge of a grain-free diet for ourselves. Did we think we would ever make such a decision? No! But the results have been persuasive, so we continue.
Now we fully understand the challenges of traveling while following a restricted diet; it’s not impossible, but it’s often not easy either!
When booking a stay at another B&B recently, we forewarned the innkeepers that we would not be able to indulge in their typical baked goods. Visiting with the innkeepers over breakfast, we all agreed that advance notice allows innkeepers to offer workable options to the best of their abilities.
We appreciate insight in how to make your stay at our inn the best it can be!
