Breakfast and Amenities

We advertise “generous hospitality” for several reasons, key among them being the food our guests enjoy during their stay. Many guests tell us (over their second or third breakfast) that our breakfast sustained them for biking, or shopping, or hiking throughout the afternoon! It’s a healthy breakfast, not a ‘heavy’ breakfast so you feel good instead of guilty. Our children coined the term ‘hummy tummy’ and we think you’ll agree. Judges at the Wisconsin Bed & Breakfast Association’s cook-off 2010 unanimously chose our Door County Cherry Bread Pudding as the Grand Prize Winning entry (and there was no lack of delicious looking entries).

Let us share a bit about the breakfast we serve:

~ freshly roasted, ground, and brewed coffee is available prior to and with breakfast

~ tea and hot chocolate connoisseurs are happy to find that they can indulge anytime during their stay

~ it’s a full breakfast served buffet style in the inn’s dining room

~ meat is always served separately

~ we made our whole wheat bread (for which we grind the wheat berries) and that is served oven toasted

~ we make our own granola from a recipe created by our daughter, Noelle

~ we have been culturing our own yogurt for the past two years

~ two fruit juices are offered with breakfast each morning

~ eggs are part of each breakfast but if you stay with us for seven nights, you’ll likely experience seven
various egg preparations

~ fruit is also part of each breakfast and may be served fresh, sauced, baked, sauteed, or frozen in a sorbet
or a frozen yogurt (when warm weather puts guests in the mood for chilly breakfast entrees!)

Why do we choose to serve our breakfast buffet style? So that guests can pick and choose and go back for more if they desire.  We put the emphasis on quality ingredients and from scratch preparation…..no shortcuts….. you’ll taste the difference! Do we do this simply to impress our guests?  No! We are simply sharing with our guests the quality food that our family has preferred through the years.
